Matthew is an explosive triple-threat punisher with size, speed, and athleticism to match his efficient shooting. With sick handles and crafty moves, Matthew's versatility and relentless drive as an athletic guard are the combination of these skills that set him apart. Matthew can run point well, thrive at breaking down defenses, and shoot efficiently at a blistering 40% from three.” His offensive game is dynamic, with a knack for attacking the rim, finishing through contact, and even throwing down highlight-reel dunks when defenders dare to challenge him. On the defensive side, Matthew is a ruthless rim protector who is relentless at blocking shots and disrupting opponents’ post-play. And Matthew is a glass cleaner gobbling up boards like candy.
This past season, Matthew averaged 17.9 points and 12.2 rebounds per game. In AAU, Matthew averaged 22.2 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. Matthew is not content with just being good, he wants to develop his 94-foot defense and get better at locking down defenders across the entire court. Matthew also wants to focus on improving more as a person and a player. Matthew's goal for this upcoming season is to continue to develop his game while catching some coaches attention.
What truly sets Matthew apart, however, is his mindset. His focus and determination are unwavering, even in the face of challenges. Matthew believes that mental toughness has become a crucial part of his game and a driving force behind his relentless work ethic.
Though Matthew's life revolves around basketball, he likes video games, but he's primarily on the grind. He acknowledges that reaching the next level will require “loads of hard work, grind, and strength,” and he’s ready for the challenge.
Matthew's biggest basketball accomplishment, including a standout moment, was earning First Team All-Star honors so far.
Matthew's advice to others is simple: “Do not compare yourself to others. Matthew used to look at the best kids in major circuits and feel behind, but he has learned to focus on his own journey.
Matthew feels that getting to the next level will require hard work, dedication, and living in the weight room to get stronger. Matthew is locked in on any division level, but the goal is to continue to play the game he loves at the next level where he best fits. Matthew has no offers yet but won't stop working until he reaches his goals.
My assessment is with his size, skill, and dedication, Matthew is on the rise, and it’s only a matter of time before he achieves his dreams. This young stud has a bag full of tools and natural intangibles that will greatly impact any team. This star checks every box and is an absolute coach's dream, with a ton of potential and desire to get even better. This will be a show worth watching for years to come. Stay tuned.
