6’5 , 187lbs | Class of 2027

International School of Como / PGC Cantu – Italy

Mert brings a fierce energy wherever he steps on the court that's explosive yet calculated, smooth yet intense. He’s a 6’5 dynamo built for the spotlight. With a silky shooting touch that touches the nets and the craftiness to facilitate an offense like a seasoned floor general, Mert is the kind of player who pulls attention without even trying. His playmaking pops with creativity, his communication on defense is loud and intentional, and his offensive IQ borders on elite. He doesn’t just play the game, he reads it, manipulates it, and then owns it. Every move is charged with purpose, every possession fueled by a hunger to dominate.

What separates Mert is the versatility wrapped into his frame. He can space the floor with confident spot-up shooting, handle the rock and deliver dazzling dimes, or slip into a scoring role with equal ease. The blend of vision and voice, he sees the floor and talks the game, which gives his team both direction and tempo. On the other side, he brings vocal leadership and alert rotations, embracing defense as a collective mission. In every sense, he's a connector. The kind of glue guy with the game to take over when needed.

This season marked a turning point in Mert’s evolution. His comfort with contact surged, transforming him into a much tougher matchup for defenders who once tried to muscle him out of rhythm. That increased physicality is now a tool, not a hurdle. The biggest improvement he’s made is learning to invite the fight by absorbing bumps, playing through pressure, and staying composed in the chaos. Now, he’s focusing on finishing stronger around the rim and powering up his body into a college-ready build. Expect this offseason to be filled with weight room hours, sweat-soaked skill sessions, and a heavy dose of game-speed reps to elevate his pace and explosiveness.

While he continues the search for an international AAU squad to join this summer, his purpose stays locked in. Mert is ready to finally unleash the years of unseen work through the thousands of reps, the hours in empty gyms, the lonely days of pushing himself when no one was watching. Next season isn’t just another year. It’s a statement. In the U17 league, he averaged 14 a game. But in the European Youth Basketball league, he had a 20-point game against a team with national team players

What fuels Mert is the fire to win, pure and simple. That competitive edge is baked into his every move. He doesn’t need noise or hype. Just the ball, a target, and the will to leave no doubt. When facing adversity, he leans into consistency. Confidence, he’s learned, is not just belief but repetition, reliability, and resilience. And when the game gets messy or emotions run high, he remembers the best advice he’s ever received,  “Just play.” Because underneath all the layers of strategy and breakdowns, basketball is still a simple game played best when the mind is free and the heart is full.

Off the court, Mert enjoys decompressing away from the noise, finding peace in the spaces where the ball isn’t bouncing. That balance of being locked in on the floor and easy going off of it, keeps his energy high and his love for the game strong.

I assess that Mert brings a high-level understanding of the game that you don’t often see in players his age. His ability to knock down shots, create plays, and communicate defensively gives him a polished feel that translates well to team success. He’s unselfish but dangerous, vocal but poised, and never backs down from physicality. With added strength and a faster pace, he’ll have the tools to thrive in a system that values smart decision-making and floor spacing.

Mert’s shooting and playmaking combo make him a versatile weapon for any college program looking to stretch the floor and run an efficient offense. His basketball IQ and leadership make him a natural fit for high-level systems where communication and court awareness matter. With his growing frame and relentless offseason focus, his impact will only grow. He’s not just a stat sheet guy but a rhythm-setter, a trust builder, and a game-changer when it counts.

Expect Mert to continue to evolve both physically and mentally this offseason. With a stronger frame and a quicker pace, he’s poised to become an even more dynamic two-way threat. His potential lies in his ability to impact games in multiple ways and raise the level of those around him. Don’t be surprised if he becomes one of the most sought-after international guards in his class. There are no limits on what comes next. Stay tuned.
