Leighton is a crafty combo guard with sick handles and a confident touch, who has built a reputation as a dynamic offensive threat who can score from anywhere on the court while also locking in defensively with a fierce competitive edge. His game combines a smooth shooting touch with sneaky speed off the bounce, allowing him to blow past defenders before they can react and create offense in ways that keep opponents constantly guessing. One possession, he is bringing the rain from deep with effortless range, the next he is stopping on a dime and hitting a smooth middy, and the next he is slicing through the lane for a strong finish at the rim.

What makes Leighton especially dangerous is his ability to operate as a true three-level scorer while still handling primary ball-handling responsibilities. With the ball in his hands, he controls tempo, creates space with shifty footwork, and keeps defenders off balance with quick bursts that allow him to attack from anywhere on the floor. His ability to score off the dribble gives him a constant advantage because defenders cannot simply run him off the three-point line. If they press up, he blows by them; if they sag, he punishes them from deep. That balance has turned him into a player who can control stretches of a game while creating opportunities not only for himself but for his teammates as well.

During the 2024 to 2025 season, Leighton averaged 6 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist per game while shooting 41 percent from the field on 152 attempts. One year later, his impact exploded as he elevated his performance to 16 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals per game while shooting 43 percent on 438 shots, emerging as the team’s leading scorer while still maintaining his responsibility as a primary ball handler and defensive stopper. That leap did not happen by accident, but was fueled by confidence, work ethic, and a refusal to allow difficult moments to shake his belief in himself.

Like every competitor chasing greatness, Leighton faced adversity along the way. A shooting slump around Christmas tested his confidence, but instead of letting doubt creep in, he leaned on the countless hours of work he had already invested. Looking ahead, Leighton is focused on continuing to expand his game. Improving court vision and becoming an even stronger playmaker are key areas of development, while getting stronger in the weight room is another priority as he prepares for the next level. His goal is to prove he is a player who impacts the game in multiple ways.

Off the court, Leighton enjoys spending time with family and friends and staying active with pickleball, but his love for basketball remains the driving force behind his work ethic. He approaches the game with the belief that no one will outwork him and that every opportunity must be earned through effort and commitment.

Despite his production and growth, recruiting attention has been quiet so far. He has taken a visit to Southeastern Illinois College and continues to push forward without any offers at this time. But players who bring their combination of size, scoring ability, defensive intensity, and relentless competitiveness rarely stay overlooked for long.
