Max finished last regular season on a high note leading his team to a state tournament appearance for the first time in 14 years after only winning 7 games the previous three years.

Max’s confidence and leadership grew throughout the season which was awesome to watch. Max was known as one of the best three-point shooters in the state hands down. Defenses were geared to shut him down but it rarely worked. When they collapsed he would make them pay by finding the open player. The most impressive improvement during the season was Max becoming Sissonville's defensive stopper. Max took great pride in shutting down the best the other team had to offer. Earning 1st Team All-Conference and 2nd Team All-State while averaging 14.5 points, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds per game during the regular season. Max then flexed his skills even more in the postseason where he set himself apart as a player averaging 22 points, 6 assists, and 3 rebounds per game. Max's goal this upcoming season is to follow that up this year by putting the work in every day and helping the team be better than we were the day before.

Max's biggest improvement he made to elevate his game was becoming more of a combo guard. Max played point guard the majority of the time in AAU so he has a vast skill set he can offer to teams. Playing against great competition has improved Max's game coming into his senior season. One thing Max learned that will pay off is it helps to be able to play different positions on the court.

During this summer Max continued to shine and shoot lights out in the AAU session playing for WV Hustle Clemons. Where he averaged 17 points, 6 assists, and 3 rebounds. No matter the venue, competition, or location Max was a stud out there and continued to lead his team well. If Max could define a moment from his summer session it would be his summer shootouts where Max averaged 27 points per game during the 9-game session while also getting his team involved. One of the biggest challenges coming into this season is going to be repeating the same success as they had last year while keeping this new winning culture alive.

Max's goals in AAU, were dedicating time to get better at everything, excelling in the combo guard role, and being a leader on the court. His biggest focus for this upcoming year is being the best leader he can be - by helping to lead and teach the younger players on-the-floor training in real-time. The mission ahead is to get back to another State Tournament appearance while also making First-Team- All-State honors.

The advice Max would give younger players coming behind him is to know your role and be the best you can be at it. Also, try to learn as much as you can from the older players on the team. High school ball is very different from middle school and the speed of the game is much faster.

The stage has been set for another breakout season and deep tournament run. Max is one of the hardest workers you will find out there. Very intense in his workouts. It's time to shine his brightest on his last stretch run and dazzle the coaches with his constantly improving skills which he will bring to the next level.

Coaches should know Max is a high D2 level prospect and continues to develop so the potential Max has is a lot. Max is effective on both ends of the floor and checks every box a coach could ask. There won't be any sleeping on Max this season but opponents beware Max is still on a mission believing he has a lot to prove to all the doubters while opening the eyes to as many coaches as he can till he finds that one place he can call home.
