There are players who ride the flow of the game, and then there are players who flip it. Deacon lives in that second group. When things start slipping, when momentum turns, when a team needs life, that’s when he shows up the most. A high-IQ guard with an edge, he brings impact in waves, scoring, creating, defending, and doing whatever the moment demands. It’s not just about getting buckets; it’s about changing the energy of the game.

That mindset showed itself in a way you don’t forget. In the middle of a battle, Deacon dislocated his pinky, walked off, got it popped back into place, then came right back and hit 4 threes. No hesitation, no drop in rhythm, just stepping back in and taking over like nothing happened. While he was off the floor, the lead slipped away. When he came back, it became personal. Not for stats, not for attention, but to give his team a real chance. That’s the difference and the impact.

When his shot starts falling, everything opens up. Defenses are forced to lock in on him, and he reads it instantly. That attention turns into opportunities, drive, kick, extra pass, easy baskets for teammates. He doesn’t force the game; he controls it. And when the boards come off, he’s not waiting. He’s pushing. Gobbling up rebounds as a guard and turning them into fast break chances where his instincts take over. That quarterback vision shows up, head up, scanning, deciding in a split second whether it’s his moment to finish or set someone else up.

This season wasn’t smooth. It tested him. A team expecting reinforcements suddenly had to adjust when key pieces became ineligible. Roles shifted overnight, and Deacon found himself carrying more than expected. More minutes, more responsibility, more pressure. And while the wins didn’t come the way they wanted, the growth did. That kind of adversity doesn’t break you, it exposes who you are. And what it showed is a player willing to step into the fire and keep competing, no matter the outcome.

The separation in his game shows up in ways that don’t always get talked about. Rebounding as a guard, controlling the pace, turning defense into offense, staying active on both ends. But the biggest improvement came on the defensive side. That’s where he’s raising the bar, and taking pride in locking in, picking up full court, making every possession uncomfortable. That edge is growing, and it’s becoming a real weapon.

Now heading into AAU with Kentucky Future Elite, the message is clear. He’s coming to prove he can guard 94 feet, defend multiple positions, and bring that same nonstop motor every time he steps on the floor. Coaches won’t see someone waiting for a moment. They’ll see someone creating it. Disciplined, active, relentless, and always ready to shift the game.

There’s something different about players who respond when everything gets tough. Deacon doesn’t run from it. He pushes right through it and turns it into fuel.

I assess that Deacon is a tough, high-IQ guard who brings impact in multiple areas of the game. Capable of heating up from deep while also creating for others and pushing tempo off rebounds. Shows strong instincts in transition and plays with confidence when the moment demands it. Defensive growth is becoming a key part of his identity, adding another layer to his overall game.

With continued focus on defense and consistency as a playmaker, his value continues to rise. His ability to handle increased responsibility and still compete speaks to his makeup. As he builds on that defensive edge and keeps expanding his all-around impact, he becomes a guard who can impact winning in multiple ways at the next level.
