Everett Lombardi can make a run feel like it might break wide open at any second. At 12 years old, he brings electric speed, shifty moves, and fierce determination to every snap, slipping past defenders one moment and fighting through a tackle the next. He loves finding the end zone, and he brings that same fire when he plays defense, giving his teammates everything he has on either side of the ball.

A season with 30 touchdowns showed just how dangerous Everett could be with the ball in his hands. His speed helped him beat defenders to the edge, and once he found daylight, he could turn a small opening into a huge play. He credits his knowledge of the game, too, and he understands that tougher competition calls for more than outrunning everyone. He still wants those explosive runs, but now he's working to see the defense better and choose the right moment to make his move.

This season has brought another thrill: Everett and his teammates are undefeated, and they want to stay that way. He loves competing beside them, scoring touchdowns, and hearing the crowd erupt after a big play. Everett didn't give a current stat total, but the moments he remembers most show how much he enjoys winning with his team.

His biggest improvement since last season has come in how he sees a play develop. Everett is learning when to use his speed, when to be patient, and when to trust a block before making his cut. Before the snap, he checks where the linebackers line up and thinks about the openings his teammates might help create. Once the ball is in his hands, he watches the defense and looks for the best path to the end zone. When he gets that timing right, his quick feet make him tough to catch cleanly.

His big brother Easton has helped shape that growth. Everett gets to share the field with him, watches how he runs, and studies the moves he makes against a defense. They play the same positions, and Coach Polly uses the same playbook as the high school, so Everett can put what he learns from watching Easton to work in his own game. When Easton corrects him on the field, Everett listens because he knows his brother wants him to succeed. The boys look up to Easton as well, and having him with them pushes the whole team to work harder for each other.

Everett brings that desire to practice, where he listens to his coaches, works on his game, and tries to lead his teammates. His family, his team, and his love for football fuel the work he puts in when the crowd is gone. He wants to make his family proud and help his team win, and he knows there's plenty more for him to learn. The touchdowns have given him memories he'll never forget, but the chance to grow beside the people he loves keeps him hungry for what comes next.

I assess that Everett has a knack for making defenders commit before he changes direction, and he has the toughness to stay on his feet when an open run turns into contact. His sudden moves and strong finish give each touch a chance to become a memorable one.

Everett’s willingness to listen gives him a strong foundation for the football ahead. He takes corrections seriously, pays attention to the details, and wants his teammates to succeed with him. That open mind will help him make the most of the talent he already shows. Stay tuned.
