Mercy is a savvy combo guard who loves attacking the seams and finishing strong at the rim or a lethal mid-range dagger. Mercy is a quick player who easily gets in the lane with strong handles and crafty moves to create his shots at will. Mercy is versatile enough also to knock down the three-ball. Mercy is a strong facilitator who uses great court vision to find the open guy. Mercy is also a rock-solid defender who can pick up the opposing team’s ball handler at half-court without ever being afraid to guard anyone big or small.
This past season Mercy averaged 10.8 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game.
The most motivating thing that happened to Mercy last season that will push him to move forward was the adversity and politics he faced on his high school team, which will only motivate him to work harder. Mercy's goals for next season are to fit into the starting point guard role at his school, be a leader to his teammates, and win a state championship.
He Played AAU for Black Bear North. Mercy's goals were to improve his 3-point shooting and to make more 3s in a game which he did improve upon both.
Seeing his team in a losing position fuels fire which only makes him play harder to put his team in a better position. Mercy wants to seize the opportunity to be a clutch performer for his team to help at the most critical stages of the game. He has the passion to be that guy to help turn the tide for his team.
Mercy chooses to handle adversity by controlling what he can control. When he is being treated unfairly he uses that as fuel to work harder. Mercy thrives best when facing doubters.
A coach can expect Mercy to work hard on his game when nobody is looking. This hard work separates Mercy from others. Mercy always plays with an edge and chip on his shoulder feeling like he has something to prove. Coaches should know Mercy’s energy will always be 110%. He will bring his A game knowing that's what it takes to be successful.
Mercy sees himself playing in any division because for him finding a school that has great academics as well as athletics is his main goal. Mercy does see himself playing in D1 or D2 because of his work ethic and habits which mimic D1 players.
I assess Mercy as determined and playing with fire in his eye. His purpose is to overcome all odds against a team with a fearless mindset to take on any player he faces with confidence. He has a passion for not being second best. I cannot wait to see just where Mercy lands. I know this will be a breakout season!
