Dareanna Ryan brings a game built on constant hustle, deep focus, emotional control, and a growing ability to lead the people around her. She doesn't measure her impact only by points because she takes pride in competing hard, carrying responsibility, helping teammates improve, and keeping herself under control when the emotions of a game start rising. Her 15 points per game show she can put the ball in the basket, but the heartbeat of her game lives in the energy she brings possession after possession and the way she wants her presence to make everyone around her better.

Dareanna put together a strong season at McGavock and believes her postseason was even better, as her game continued to come alive when the pressure increased. She averaged 15 points per game while earning All-District honors for the second time, giving her another achievement that reflects the work she has put into her game. However, when Dareanna looks back at her biggest moments, she doesn't immediately point to a scoring explosion or an individual award because helping her teammates improve means more to her. That says plenty about where her mind is because she wants her success to spread throughout the team instead of stopping with her own numbers.

One of Dareanna's biggest improvements didn't come from adding another move or extending her shooting range because she attacked something deeper within herself. She worked hard to improve her attitude and emotional control, understanding that talent can only take you so far if frustration starts controlling your reactions. Basketball constantly brings missed shots, questionable calls, turnovers, physical play, and moments when everything seems to be going against you, so learning how to stay composed can completely change how you respond. Dareanna has become more aware of those emotions and better at keeping her attention where it belongs, allowing her focus to remain on the possession in front of her instead of something that already happened.

That growth was tested through the sting of losing a championship game, which Dareanna considers the biggest adversity she has faced in basketball. Losing with a championship sitting within reach hurt, but she refused to allow that ending to become nothing more than disappointment. The loss exposed weaknesses she needed to address and gave her a clearer picture of exactly where improvement had to happen. Instead of hiding from what went wrong, she took those lessons with her, and that painful finish became motivation for the work she has poured into herself since.

Her offseason has been focused heavily on tightening her ball-handling and becoming stronger through consistent work in the weight room. Dareanna wants better control with the basketball while building the strength needed to handle contact, compete physically, and become tougher to deal with over the course of a game. Her goal for the upcoming season is she wants people to see just how much work she has actually put in. She isn't looking to tell everyone she improved because she wants her game to reveal it once she steps between the lines.

Much of that improvement is being built far away from the attention that comes with game nights, as Dareanna puts in ball-handling workouts at home and runs outside to keep pushing her conditioning. Those quiet hours are where she continues building herself. One of her biggest sources of fuel comes from seeing the people who look up to her, giving Dareanna another reason to keep working when nobody is forcing her to do it. Knowing that others are watching her journey gives the grind a bigger meaning because the example she sets can reach beyond her own basketball goals.

A coach can expect Dareanna to bring hustle, leadership, accountability, and a team-first approach whenever she walks onto the court. She is willing to take on big responsibilities rather than hide from them, and that willingness becomes especially valuable when games get tight and someone has to stay steady. Her growing emotional control strengthens that part of her makeup because leadership carries much more weight when actions match the words being spoken. Dareanna wants to be someone teammates can follow because of how hard she competes and how seriously she takes her responsibility to help the group succeed.

Her upcoming opportunity with TeamTae in the Clarksville WNBA will give Dareanna another chance to put those qualities to work in a different setting. She plans to impact TeamTae by bringing her leadership and helping guide the group in the right direction, giving her an opportunity to show that her voice and presence can travel wherever basketball takes her. New teammates and new challenges will demand communication, adjustment, and trust, and Dareanna enters that run ready to contribute much more than scoring. She wants to bring the same energy that has become part of her identity while using the experience to continue sharpening everything she has spent the offseason building.

I assess that Dareanna's strongest qualities begin with a motor that keeps her involved and a mindset that has become increasingly steady under pressure. Her proven offensive production, while her willingness to accept responsibility and bring others along, adds another valuable layer to her presence. The work she has put into controlling her emotions could become one of the most important parts of her growth because it keeps her competitiveness focused on winning possessions instead of getting caught in frustration. Combine that composure with her nonstop effort and desire to lift teammates, and Dareanna brings an edge that can be felt in several areas of a game.

The offseason work on tighter handles and added strength could unlock even more from Dareanna as she prepares to show how much has changed. Her championship loss gave her a good look at areas that needed attention, and she has responded by attacking those areas rather than making excuses for the ending. The running, home workouts, weight-room sessions, and responsibility she feels toward those watching her journey are building a stronger foundation for what comes next. Dareanna now has an opportunity to turn all of those unseen hours into visible results, carrying a fierce motor, calmer mind, stronger frame, and confident voice into a season where she wants her work to speak loudly for itself. Stay tuned.
