Luke plays the game with a toughness you can feel right away. Gritty, fearless, and wired to win at all costs, everything he does is built around making the right play and doing whatever the moment calls for. He’s a quick guard with tight handles, using fakes, pace, and angles to get where he needs on the floor, and when he finds space, he makes you pay. Shooting a blistering 49% from three, 47.8% from two, and 92% from the line, he turned himself into a lethal weapon who doesn’t waste opportunities. Add in a 3.27 assist-to-turnover ratio, and you’re looking at a guard who doesn’t just score; he controls the game.
That toughness didn’t just show up overnight. It was built from always being the smaller player, having to fight for everything, and learning early that nothing is given. That edge became his advantage. That’s where the “Honey Badger” identity was born, picking up full court, bringing relentless pressure, and refusing to back down from anyone. That standard stuck, and now it’s the foundation of how he plays. Every possession is earned. Every moment is attacked.
Coming into the season, the mindset was to win again. One championship wasn’t enough. The goal was to run it back and build something even stronger, especially after losing four key players from the previous title team. That meant setting the tone early, building chemistry, and committing to getting better every single day. The work behind the scenes matched that mindset. Early mornings, 5:30 gym sessions, day after day, year after year. That’s the kind of culture that builds champions, and Luke was right in the middle of it.
The season had its ups and downs. Finding rhythm at times wasn’t easy, and early on, the team had to figure things out defensively. But once that clicked, everything changed. That’s when it became real. That’s when the belief grew into something stronger. Luke stayed steady through it all, continuing to make winning plays and trusting the process.
Off the court, the season brought something much heavier. Finding out his uncle, Larry Sancomb, was battling ALS hit deep. That’s not just family; that’s someone who helped shape who he is and who lives out the meaning behind the Sancomb name: never give up. That fight became personal. Every time Luke stepped on the floor, he carried that with him. That kind of motivation doesn’t fade; it fuels everything. Watching his uncle keep battling only pushed him to be stronger, to be better, to honor that fight every single game.
When postseason came, the mindset narrowed even more. One goal-Win. Nothing else mattered. Every game was treated like a step, one at a time, no looking ahead. Tyler, Frankfort, Wayne, and Wyoming East. Each one was handled with focus and discipline. The team leaned on their preparation, their culture, and especially their defense, locking in on matchups and making sure every possession counted. That approach carried them all the way through, securing another championship and proving it wasn’t luck, it was built.
Now the focus shifts to AAU, and the hunger hasn’t changed. The goal is still winning, stacking as many victories as possible while continuing to grow. There’s a clear focus on finishing better around the rim, changing pace, building strength and athleticism, and learning how to absorb contact while staying balanced. Every detail matters, and he’s attacking all of it.
What stands out most is his mindset. Team first, always. In a time where a lot of players focus on what they can do individually, Luke is wired differently. Whatever the team needs, he’s bringing it. Whether that’s scoring, defending, making plays, or setting the tone with effort, he’s all in. That appreciation for his coaches and teammates runs deep because he knows they’re part of what’s pushing him forward.
Luke isn’t chasing moments, but building something through work, toughness, and a mindset that doesn’t break. And that “Honey Badger” energy isn’t going anywhere.
I assess that Luke is a tough, high-IQ guard who brings efficiency, decision-making, and relentless effort to the floor. His shooting ability, combined with his control of the game and defensive intensity, makes him a reliable and impactful presence.
As he continues to build strength and expand his ability to finish through contact, his game will keep growing. His toughness, shooting consistency, and team-first approach give him a strong foundation to keep rising and impacting winning at higher levels. Stay tuned.
