Reece is a gritty, hard-nosed competitor who plays the game with a fire that never fades. A dynamic combo guard with a deep bag and a fierce mindset, he thrives off the bounce, attacking lanes with purpose and making defenders pay with quick bursts, crafty finishes, and a soft touch from three. He’s a tough shot-maker who embraces contact, competes on every possession, and thrives in the trenches. Reece’s ability to break defenders down, create for others, and make smart reads with excellent court vision makes him a true floor general. On the other end, he’s a tenacious defender who lives for hustle plays, digs in at the point of attack, and brings relentless pressure from baseline to baseline. He’s got the toughness, the drive, and the leadership traits coaches dream of, and he backs it all up with grit.
On varsity this past season, Reece chipped in 3 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists per game while averaging 10 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists on JV. His biggest improvement was his confidence and three-point shooting, as well as physical strength. This offseason, he's locked into sharpening his handles and becoming a knockdown shooter from beyond the arc, putting in daily work to become a true top-tier guard in his class. He’s also focused on becoming more athletic and improving his in-game decision-making to apply even more pressure on defenses. Mentally, the most defining part of his season came when his confidence took a hit, but that moment changed him. It reminded him that nothing will be handed to him, and ever since, he's doubled down on his grind and rediscovered his fire.
Reece plays with Indiana Elite (Wetzel) on the AAU circuit, and he’s already making noise. Two weeks ago at the NEXT LEVEL INVITATIONAL on the NY2LA platform, he averaged 10.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 5 assists as a strong impact player. This past weekend at the Midwest Classic, he dropped 17 points in battle with a strong Wisconsin Playmakers squad, showing poise, control, and big-time shotmaking. He’s focused on locking in as a full-court defender, improving his pressure defense, and leading his squad to wins at the D2 Showcase and beyond. The upcoming season has breakout written all over it, and Reece is determined to show why he’s a top point guard in his class while helping New Albany climb toward elite state status.
What fires him up most is defense. When he forces a turnover or gets a big stop and turns it into a bucket on the other end, that’s when his energy reaches another level. He’s faced injuries, doubt, and adversity, but he's powered through all of it with focus, faith, and a relentless will to get better. The best advice he received is from Coach Jason Jones, “Control the controllables.” It’s a phrase that fuels how he responds, competes, and carries himself in every moment on the court.
Reece’s identity is built on leadership, mental toughness, and unshakable confidence. He knows how to lead, work, and bring his team together in high-pressure moments. Off the floor, he’s all about family and faith, spending time with loved ones, relaxing with friends, and staying grounded in who he is and who he wants to become.
I assess that Reece brings a fierce mix of competitive fire, floor leadership, and two-way impact. His decision-making, toughness, and evolving skill set give him the tools to be a cornerstone guard for any team, especially those that value heart, hustle, and high-IQ play.
As Reece continues to build strength, evolve his perimeter game, and expand his defensive presence even more, expect him to step into a commanding role next season. His work ethic and mindset are built for the long run, and he is just getting started. Stay tuned.
