Matthew is a high-ceiling player with grit, humility, and a good understanding of the game. With a strong frame and a versatile approach, he isn’t afraid to pull from deep or attack the rim, a dynamic inside-out threat that keeps defenders on edge. But what separates him is his. selfless play style. Matthew thrives as a team-first player, making an impact through tough defense, vocal leadership, and relentless effort. He’s not chasing flash but shines bright as a blue-collar gem with a high IQ. Coaches should know he is a developing two-way force who plays hard, competes with purpose, and keeps getting better every time out.

Despite being just a freshman, Matthew has already proven he belongs on the varsity floor and in elite AAU rotations filled with older, high-level talent. Through 13 varsity games at Wausau West, he averaged 2.4 points, 1.2 rebounds, and 0.5 steals. Though the numbers aren't eye-popping at a glance, but every minute he earned came from trust, IQ, and an advanced understanding of the game. He plays his role with precision, knowing when to space when to rotate, and how to make the right play without forcing it. He’s not out there just to fit in; he’s out there to help teams win. What’s more impressive is how he’s embraced learning from upperclassmen and absorbing everything around him to build his own future. His offseason focus now centers on strengthening his body, becoming more confident handling pressure, and adding layers to an already smart and steady skillset.

Matthew plays with the Wisconsin Playmakers P32 New Balance squad on the AAU circuit, his goal is to become more physical and aggressive with every game. One event he’s looking forward to is the New Balance Finals in Memphis, TN, an opportunity to test himself against elite competition. He loves high-pressure matchups and intense moments because that’s where he feels most alive. He’s excited to return to high school next season, take a step up in leadership, and help build a team capable of competing at a high level.

When facing adversity, Matthew takes a mature approach. He reflects, gets back in the gym, and focuses on the little things that shape big-time players. The best advice he’s ever received is, “Love what you do and play with joy and confidence.” That joy shows in his game and his grind. Off the court, Matthew enjoys outdoor hobbies like snowboarding, mountain biking, and traveling, finding balance that helps fuel his passion.

I assess that Matthew’s size, mentality, and two-way approach give him a high ceiling of potential. His ability to contribute on loaded teams filled with older talent speaks volumes about his basketball IQ and overall feel for the game. He isn’t just filling a role, he’s executing it with purpose, patience, and poise far beyond his years. His understanding of spacing, timing, and how to impact the game without forcing the action makes him an incredibly valuable piece for any high-level team. As he continues to grow into his body and expand his skillset, his unselfish play and awareness will make him a perfect fit at every level moving forward.

This is a freshman already producing and competing on elevated platforms. That’s not common. What makes Matthew special is the combination of his maturity, physical tools, and willingness to learn. He embraces the challenge of playing up and quietly rises to meet it. As he gains strength, reps, and freedom within systems, expect a breakout to come. He’s the kind of player who stays steady early but explodes late when opportunity meets preparation. His long-term ceiling is high, and the foundation is already in place.
