6'3", 168lbs, Class of 2027

Saint Ignatius High School, OH

Sammy is the point guard every coach dreams of: poised, gritty, and relentlessly team-first. A true pass-first-floor general who thrives on making everyone around him better, Sammy brings a mix of skill, toughness, and leadership that jumps off the page. He controls tempo, breaks down defenses, and knows how to read the game in real-time. But don’t get it twisted, when it’s time to score, he can absolutely light it up. A lethal three-point sniper with a silky smooth release, he shot 40% from deep as a sophomore and is always ready to pull the trigger when defenders sag. He’s not flashy, but he sure is fierce. Drawing charges, making hustle plays, locking down assignments, and delivering momentum-shifting moments are all part of his identity. That’s why he was ranked 6th in Ohio for charges taken this past season and why he's earned the title of glue guy with game-changing impact.

Helping lead Saint Ignatius to a 20-4 record and a D1 State Final Four appearance in 2024–2025, Sammy showed up in big moments with toughness and consistency. He’s added muscle, vocal leadership, and confidence to his already high-IQ style of play. His biggest improvement has been in his shot-making, built through daily commitment, over 300 shots a day. That work is paying off in a major way. Now playing up on 17U with B-Rod Select on the Prep Hoops Circuit, he’s averaging 22.3 points, 6 assists, 3 steals, and 2 rebounds per game while holding his own and then some against older competition. Recently ranked 93rd on MaxPreps and 4th in Ohio for the class of 2027 as a combo guard, he’s shown that he’s more than ready to take over.

That potential was displayed at the most recent Prep Hoops event, where he helped B-Rod Select to a 4-1 finish and a silver championship. Playing up a level, he didn’t just survive, he thrived. Sammy used his length, physicality, and quick hands to dominate defensively and push tempo in transition. He brought that same presence on offense, where his shooting, decision-making, and calm under pressure helped control the pace of every game. He’s not the kind of player you want to leave open, he’s always ready and willing to take the big shot.

What separates Sammy is how grounded and driven he is. He stays focused under pressure, keeps his teammates involved, and visualizes success every time he steps on the floor. His motivation is deeper than accolades. As he puts it, he trusts the best advice he’s ever received from Coach Cam Joyce: “God has a plan for you, and everyone’s journey is different. Don’t believe everything you see on social media, and don’t pay attention to the rankings, because in the end, whoever puts the most time into this game will succeed the most.” Sammy believes that, lives it, and proves it every time he steps on the court.

Off the court, Sammy values time with his brothers, working out, and watching film and documentaries about NBA players. He’s a student of the game, always looking to improve, and committed to pushing himself and those around him forward.

I assess that Sammy is a high-level point guard with a rare blend of basketball IQ, defensive toughness, and deep shooting range. His ability to impact the game without needing to dominate the ball makes him a winning piece in any system. He leads, he defends, and he delivers.

With his work ethic, team-first mentality, and proven ability to compete at a high level, Sammy is already playing beyond his age. As his strength continues to grow and his confidence rises, expect him to remain one of the top guards in his class and a name college coaches will be watching closely. Stay tuned for a breakout season ahead.
