Lavar is the definition of a two-way guard who elevates everyone around him. With a high basketball IQ, he sees the game in ways that few players his age can, reading defenses, making the thread-the-needle passes, and creating opportunities that make his teammates better. As a pass-first guard who can also take over when needed, he blends leadership with skill. He’s a confident shooter who can pull up from midrange or light it up from deep, already proving it with games of six made threes and a 31-point game on the AAU circuit. Shifty on the perimeter, disruptive in passing lanes, and always willing to take on the toughest defensive assignments, Lavar is a complete two-way force and a natural leader on the floor.

This past season in the SBC Conference, Lavar averaged 11.4 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 assists, adding game-winning free throws that sealed victories when the pressure was highest. His biggest strides have come in his body, adding 20 pounds of strength, while elevating his pull-up middy and confidence, creating space. On the AAU stage, he averaged 16.5 PPG, 5.6 RPG, 6.3 APG, and 3.8 SPG while shooting 41% from three and 54% from the field. He delivered highlight games across the board: 31 points vs. Wildcat Elite, 11 rebounds vs. Craig Porter Elite, 10 assists vs. Stark County, 8 steals vs. Midwest, and a perfect 6/6 from deep in another Midwest matchup. At the Cincinnati Bearcat Classic, he powered his team to a runner-up finish, averaging 16.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, 6.1 assists, and 2.1 steals while shooting a blistering 5.3% FG and 40% from three.

Lavar thrives on pressure and competition. Trash talkers fuel him, coaches and teammates fire him up, and in adversity, he stays composed, taking a breath, steadying his teammates, and pushing forward. His goal is to lead his school to a state title and continue raising his game every season. Off the court, he applies the same dedication, whether in the weight room, in schoolwork, or perfecting his craft as a gym rat who loves the grind. The best advice he ever received came from his childhood coach: “Praise effort, not just talent.” That drives him to outwork everyone, knowing effort separates good from great.

I assess that Lavar’s combination of scoring, passing, and defensive instincts makes him a complete guard who can impact the game in every category. His IQ and unselfishness make him the kind of floor general who boosts team chemistry, while his ability to create turnovers and convert them into points sets him apart. College programs can expect a leader who thrives on responsibility and brings a winning edge.

With his strength catching up to his skill set, Lavar is poised for a breakout. His consistent production against top AAU competition shows he’s built for big stages, and his leadership at the high school level will only grow as he takes on bigger roles. Expect him to keep delivering high-scoring nights, clutch plays, and defensive stops while building his reputation as one of the top guards in Ohio’s 2028 class. Stay tuned for a monster season ahead.
