Isaac has made his presence felt for Hazard on both sides of the line, bringing a physical edge and a sharp football mind to every snap. In his first season at middle linebacker, he has piled up 61 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 1 sack, and 1 fumble recovery. The move has given him room to show how quickly he can adjust, attack, and lead, while his work at center and long snapper makes his value to the team even greater.
Isaac describes his game through physical play, a refusal to quit, and leadership that continues when he leaves the field. His IQ helps him adapt from one game to the next, and he combines that understanding with the speed to make plays. At center, he studies the defensive alignment before the snap and points out possible blitzes so his teammates can pick them up. On defense, he uses that same attention to detail to find the football and make his presence known in the heart of the action.
His place in the lineup began when he earned a starting spot as a freshman, and he's stayed on the field ever since. Helping Hazard reach the region championship that year remains one of his biggest moments. This season has brought a different test, with coaching changes, departures through transfers and graduation, injuries to key teammates, and a tough schedule. Losing has been hard for Isaac, but he's chosen to encourage his teammates, stay positive, and lean on prayer when the challenges weigh on him.
The work behind his growth has been constant. Isaac focused on getting faster and stronger during the offseason, spending nearly every day in the gym and watching film whenever he could. Basketball has helped him stay active, and his baseball background adds to the athletic foundation behind his game. He sees his increased physicality and speed as his biggest improvement since last season, and he wants to keep sharpening his long snaps as he moves forward.
For the rest of the season, Isaac wants to finish healthy and help Hazard close with a strong attitude. He believes the team can build on this year with many teammates set to return. Coaches can count on his respect, determination, and willingness to play hard until the final whistle. What fuels him most is seeing the defense fly to the ball together or throwing a block that springs a teammate for a big run.
I assess that Isaac’s best plays start with how he combines strength and quick decisions. He can meet contact with force, find his way into the backfield, and give the offense a firm start at the line. His ability to do all three makes him a powerful presence for Hazard.
There's plenty to look forward to as Isaac keeps growing in his new defensive role. His hunger to compete and the pride he takes in helping teammates succeed give him a bright future, and Hazard will benefit from every chance he gets to put that drive on display. Stay tuned.
