6’6, 195lbs, Class of 2027

Simla, CO

Tatum is a dynamic force with rare versatility, a freakishly athletic, high-IQ slashing wing who plays with heart, hunger, and controlled chaos. He’s built like a mismatch nightmare, strong enough to finish through contact yet smooth enough to pull up and hit the punishing middy. A hybrid point-forward with vision, he impacts the game in every phase: attacking the rim, crashing the glass, dropping dimes, and locking up defensively. He can switch 1–5, protect the rim, and fuel momentum with his energy alone. Offensively, he’s already a problem, and as his three-point shot continues to evolve, he’s becoming downright unguardable.

Coming off a monster sophomore season where he averaged 21 points, 9.8 rebounds, 2.4 steals, and 1.8 blocks per game, Tatum earned 2A Player of the Year honors while leading Simla to its first state title in 38 years, playing side-by-side with his brother. His biggest improvement came in his midrange jumper, which has become a serious weapon in his bag. Now, he’s focused on developing a more consistent three-ball, quicker feet, and tighter handles to round out his game. Tatum is playing up with the 17U PLUTO Prospects and gearing up for his next big challenge of a tournament in Chicago, with Peach Jam qualification on the horizon.

This summer is about more than exposure; it’s about pushing his limits. Tatum’s AAU goals include growing as a leader, expanding his skill set, and gaining national recognition in a loaded 2027 class. He’s already considered one of the top players in the state, and his focus now is to reload with Simla after the graduation of key seniors and chase another state title. When the trash talk starts, it only fuels him more. He thrives on competition, and his fire never flickers. When facing adversity, it makes him smile, reset, and respond with confidence and grit.

The best coaching advice he’s ever received is "Be yourself. Don’t overcompensate, believe in who you are." That mindset, coupled with his faith, keeps him grounded. Tatum proudly gives all glory to his Lord and Savior for the ability to play the game he loves. Off the court, he’s a 4.0 student, a multi-sport athlete (football, baseball, and golf), and a young man who cherishes time working alongside his father on the family farm.

I assess that Tatum’s strength, athleticism, and ability to play both ends make him one of the most complete and impactful wings in his class. He’s a walking mismatch, able to initiate offense, defend every position, and dominate the glass. His style fits any system that values toughness, adaptability, and production.

With his three-level scoring, elite rebounding instincts, and defensive versatility, Tatum has already established himself as a future star. As he continues to evolving his perimeter game and improving his handles, expect him to become one of the most sought-after 2027 prospects in the country. This is just the beginning of a special journey, and he’s built for it. Stay tuned for yet another monster season ahead with a push to repeat as state champions.
