Jaxson Little brings a smart, fast, and relentless approach to the football field, combining his ability as a receiver with a willingness to do the dirty work that never shows up beside his receiving numbers. He understands his assignment, studies how defensive backs line up, and uses their leverage to help determine how he attacks his route. His speed goes far beyond catching passes because he refuses to take plays off, whether he's sprinting toward a defensive back to deliver a block on a running play or flying downfield on special teams looking to prevent a big return. That constant energy has become a major part of what makes Jaxson valuable every time the ball is snapped.

Through the first four weeks of his junior season, Jaxson has made 22 catches for 264 yards, averaging around 12 yards per catch while finding the end zone 3 times. He has also made his presence felt defensively with 4 tackles and a forced fumble, adding another layer to the impact he can provide when called upon. Those numbers have come during a difficult opening stretch against good defenses, but Jaxson believes his preparation during the week has helped him produce when game night comes. He believes hard work creates results, and his early production has given him plenty of proof that the hours spent preparing are paying off.

Catching the football is only part of what Jaxson wants people to notice, because blocking gives him plenty of pride as well. He doesn't want to become a spectator just because the football is going somewhere else, and he attacks blocking assignments with the same energy he brings to a route designed for him. Every chance to put a corner on the ground becomes something he embraces, and that fierce attitude allows him to contribute without needing the ball in his hands. His ability to line up in different spots adds even more versatility, while strong hands, dedication, discipline, and what he describes as 110 percent effort are what a coach can expect whenever he steps onto the field.

The biggest improvement since his sophomore season has happened mentally because Jaxson no longer has the same uncertainty he felt during his first varsity season. Playing varsity as a sophomore could become intimidating at times, but those moments helped shape a completely different mindset heading into his junior year. He entered this season wanting success more than anyone lined up against him, constantly reminding himself that nobody else can make the plays needed to reach his dreams. That mentality has given his athletic ability another gear because confidence now works with the preparation and toughness he already brings.

Earning a varsity starting spot as a sophomore remains one of the biggest achievements of Jaxson’s football journey, especially after helping Lockport reach the semifinals. His junior season has already added another accomplishment after he led Northern Illinois in receptions for several weeks with 22 catches. Those milestones carry meaning because they represent progress from a young receiver who once dealt with nerves on the varsity field to one who now expects himself to make an impact. Each achievement has added fuel without allowing him to become satisfied with what he's already done.

That semifinal run also brought one of the toughest moments Jaxson has faced after Lockport fell to Oswego in a close battle. The loss hit him and his teammates hard because of how close that group had become and how much they believed in what they were building together. Instead of allowing that pain to fade without meaning, Jaxson took an important lesson away from it about never taking a season, teammate, or chance to compete for granted. He still misses that group, but the memory has made him determined to make his junior and senior seasons as special as possible.

Getting faster became the main focus of Jaxson’s offseason, but his work goes well beyond improving one area of his athleticism. He spent countless hours on the field with quarterback Griffin Russel, getting repetitions together and developing the connection needed for both of them to operate with confidence once games began. Jaxson also takes great pride in strengthening his relationship with God, which he credits as the biggest impact in helping him reach where he is today. His remaining goals are clear as he chases at least 700 receiving yards, 50 catches, and 10 touchdowns while working toward All-State recognition and putting his name in front of college coaches.

Preparation also shows itself in the seconds before the football moves because Jaxson is already gathering information from the defender lined up against him. He watches how the corner plays coverage and uses that look to decide how he wants to attack his route once the play begins. When he gets defensive snaps, film study becomes especially important because formations and motion can give him clues about what may be coming. If motion comes toward his side, he knows there may be a chance to attack downhill and make a play before it develops into something bigger.

What fuels Jaxson comes from hearing the doubts surrounding Lockport and wanting his team to prove those critics wrong. Every bit of doubt becomes another reason for him to enter a game with a winning mindset and bring the energy that has helped define his junior season. He doesn't want recognition handed to him because his approach is rooted in practicing hard, earning production, and making his presence felt whether the football comes his way or not. That fire shows through his routes, his blocking, his special-teams effort, and the determination he carries into every snap.

I assess that Jaxson combines electric receiving ability with sharp football awareness, strong hands, and a physical blocking mentality that gives his offensive game real bite. His understanding of leverage allows him to adjust routes intelligently, while his willingness to attack defensive backs without the ball shows an edge that can't be measured by catches alone. Add his speed, versatility, and special-teams effort, and there are several ways for him to impact a game from the opening whistle through the final drive.

The growth in Jaxson’s mindset may prove just as important as anything he has developed physically because he now plays with greater belief after experiencing varsity football early in his career. Losing in the semifinals gave him perspective, offseason sessions with his quarterback strengthened their timing, and his faith has provided a foundation that matters deeply to him. With plenty still to chase this season, Jaxson has given himself a clear mission for the rest of his junior season while carrying the hunger to make every remaining game count.
