MJ is still a triple threat sniper. String balls handler with a high IQ. A master facilitator who makes game winning decisions. Shifty and clutch. MJ 's leadership and deadly shooting led thus team all the way to the Championship game last season. MJ is savvy and mixes it up on the boards, drops dimes and is a rock-solid defender.
This past season MJ averaged 22 Points, 6.1 Rebounds, 5.3 Assists, and 3 Steals while shooting 42% FG from 2 , 36% 3FG, and 75% FT. During the AAU session MJ averaged 17 points per game on the big shots circuit and earned himself Big Shots All Star and Ranked #11 WV player in big shots for 2025. MJ's biggest improvement made over the summer was working on being better with his back to the basket and improving his post game.
MJ's biggest moment from our summer session was when their school played in a summer shootout with local schools but even though they didn’t play their best the first game and lost a close one they started their second game playing badly and they were down 19 at half. The 2nd half they turned it around, coming back to win at the buzzer. To MJ it felt like their team really came together during that half defensively and they continued that throughout the rest of summer play.
The best player MJ played this summer was his aau teammate and Princeton guard Britt Beasley. All throughout the summer, he and MJ would get in the gym and push each other. challenging each other to be better both offensively and defensively.
AJ's teammates around him have worked hard this off season and throughout the summer. It has fueled him to do the same.
MJ handles adversity by keeping his composure and trusting his work ethic.
After the awesome success last year, MJ plans to follow that up this year by continuing to improve his strengths and work on his weaknesses. MJ 's focus this last final run of his senior season is winning while glorifying God.
I assess that MJ is going to have another breakout season and his stock will keep going up, up ,up. He really hasn't slowed down one bit and his talent level is clear and despite his size he just dominates in his all-around game and not just scoring. Stay tuned for one fantastic final run..
MJ advice for the young freshman is the competition is definitely different from middle school, but don’t let it scare you. If you're skilled and have the right work ethic you’ll succeed. be patient; it may not be this year but you’ll get your chance eventually.
For good measure and a teaser for my next article on MJ is urrently the leading goal scorer in soccer in the state of WV halfway through the season.
