Grand Blanc HS, MI

AAU Program: Oakland Elite – 16U (playing up a grade)

Max is a dynamic two-way stud who brings size, skill, and IQ every time he hits the floor. He can rain shots from deep with a smooth touch, punish defenders in the post with crafty footwork, or dice through traffic with tight ball control for a tough middy. He’s explosive off the catch and strong through contact, but what separates Max is his feel for the game. He processes the action faster than most, makes plays with purpose, and adapts to whatever his team needs, whether that’s stretching the floor, protecting the paint, or fueling the energy with a block or a big rebound. From raining triples to locking up in the post, he’s a matchup nightmare who thrives in the dirty work and lives for the big moments.

As a freshman on varsity, Max had to fight for every second of floor time, and he earned it with intensity, grit, and a relentless drive to outwork his matchup. Early in the year, he often faced bigger, older opponents, sometimes giving up 15–20 pounds and multiple inches in height. But his IQ and toughness turned him into a problem on both ends. He became a strong pick-and-roll weapon, able to slip to the rim or pop out for a deep shot, while defensively he fronted the post, rotated smartly, boxed out with effort, and played with heart. His second-half stats showed his impact, averaging 13 minutes, 5 points per game, while shooting 41% from the field, a blistering 40% from three, and nearly automatic at the stripe at 87.5%.

Max made huge improvements in strength and physicality, two of his biggest focuses over the last year. Whether defending D1 commits, banging inside against older players, or holding his own against undefeated teams, he never backed down. In a breakout performance at a showcase, he clamped down on a D1-bound big and made noise in front of coaches. In a heated rivalry game, he exploded for 13 points, 5 boards, 3 assists, and perfect shooting from deep in 27 minutes, proving he belonged and then some. He’s now spending his offseason elevating his handles, attacking the rim more confidently, and finishing above the rim without losing his range from deep.

Playing up a grade on the 16U circuit with Oakland Elite, Max is soaking up knowledge from a coach with NBA experience and going toe-to-toe with older, faster, more physical players. He’s responded with nearly 10 points, 4.4 rebounds, and over a block per game while shooting an eye-popping 56% from the field and 41% from three. This fall, he’s pursuing more than statsbut ready to step up as a leader. Inspired by his older brother’s example, Max wants to lead vocally and by example, pushing his teammates and guiding younger players the same way he was mentored.

He lives for pressure, thriving in tight games, hitting clutch shots, crashing for crucial rebounds, or rising up for a momentum-swinging block. Off the court, he plays lacrosse and values family time, especially while traveling the country chasing his basketball dream. Those trips, those sacrifices, those moments, he doesn’t take any of them for granted. He plays with purpose because he knows what it means.

I assess that Max has the skill set, size, and intelligence to fit easily into a college system. His ability to knock down shots, play inside-out, and switch assignments on defense makes him an asset to any program. What stands out most is his willingness to embrace the little things, boxing out, rotating, setting tough screens, and reading the game at a high level. That combination of toughness, versatility, and smarts is a major difference-maker.

As Max continues to grow physically and push himself against high-level competition, expect his confidence and assertiveness to skyrocket. He’s evolving into a complete player who can lead a team on both ends and take over when it matters. His long-term potential is exciting because with his motor, mindset, and drive, there’s no telling just how high he can fly. Buckle up for a breakout season ahead. Stay tuned.
