Landon is a versatile athletic wing who is a triple-threat sniper with a high IQ and fierce handles. Landon is a team-first athlete willing to do whatever it takes to help his team win. Landon has a beautiful touch from beyond the arc but is effective at attacking off the bounce for a solid, middy, or strong finish at the rim. Landon is an electric high flyer, and if he gets one step and a lane, it's highlight jam on! Landon’s post-game has evolved into something special with crafty moves and great footwork on that block. Landon gobbles up rebounds like candy and is rock solid defensively. Landon prides himself on the hard work he put in perfecting his footwork, shooting off the dribble, and ball-handling while maintaining his post-game dominance.
Last year Landon averaged 12.9 points and 7.6 rebounds per game while shooting a blistering 62.5% FG and 40.6% 3pt FG. Currently, Landon is averaging 18.9 points and 9.5 rebounds per game while shooting 62% FG and 35% from 3. Landon spent a tremendous amount of time in the weight room and went to a personal trainer to increase his explosiveness and lateral quickness. That hard work is paying off big time.
Landon’s goals this season are to win the 5th Region Tournament and advance to the State Tournament at Rupp Arena. However, the biggest challenge to achieving those goals is Landon plays in the 18th District, which is loaded with talent, and every team is extremely well-coached. It is going to be challenging to advance out of district play.
Landon’s biggest improvement from last season is his strength, speed, and explosiveness. It’s Landon’s goal to be able to guard the 1-5 positions, so his lateral quickness is something he continues to work on. Everyone likes to look at scoring or highlight dunks nowadays, but Landon firmly believes that defense wins championships.
Landon's biggest basketball accomplishment was making the all-region team as a sophomore. The biggest game/rival Landon is looking forward to this season is the game against the Adair County Indians since they return all their key players and are the defending 5th region champions. But Landon feels they definitely have the potential to make a deep run. Over Christmas break, they played four top 20 teams in the Commonwealth over a four-day stretch, ultimately making the final four. There were 16 teams in the WGM Holiday Tournament at Lexington Catholic, and 12 were ranked in the top 25. They upset a very talented GRC team ranked in the top five, and Calloway County, also very talented and deep, was ranked in the top 20. They ran out of fuel but competed against Frederick Douglass and Dupont Manual. Manual got up on us 20 points early, and they showed a great fight, making the game competitive. Actually took the lead at one point in the fourth, but they clipped us in the end. Landon thinks if they stay together, continue to improve, and believe in each other, coach will ultimately have them ready for success!
When facing adversity, Landon steps up as a leader, rallying his teammates with encouragement and focus. He’s quick to call a huddle, lift their spirits, and remind them of their goals. Landon’s ability to lead in tough moments fuels his team’s determination and keeps them in the fight.
Getting a good old-fashioned AND 1 fires Landon up the most. Landon also loves it when his team has good ball movement, and he sees a teammate knock down a big shot. The best piece of advice Landon has ever been given is, "Continue to play consistent and fundamental with strong footwork/ball movement."
Landon’s interests and hobbies outside of basketball are tubing on the lake and going to car shows.
Landon is currently receiving interest from schools at every level. Ultimately, all Landon feels he can do is work his tail off, and God will ultimately place him where he is supposed to be. Landon is currently just trying to enjoy each moment and his team! Landon will continue training to become bigger, faster, and stronger, and thankfully, he loves this game so that he will be in the gym extra at all hours. Landon is a dedicated student-athlete with a 4.0 GPA and is currently taking 3 college courses. Landon currently holds no offers but has interest from:
Unofficial visit to Miami of Ohio
Kent State
Furman
Youngstown State
Campbellsville University
Alice Lloyd
Kentucky Wesleyan
Indiana Wesleyan
I assess that these interests were earned as this young stud continues to elevate his game and is very efficient, athletic, and extremely skilled inside and out. With size and strength, he is a menace in the paint, offensively, and on the boards. Landon’s IQ and team concert is a coach's dream; he is the total package. Hyped to see how high this young star can fly with 1,000 points and 700 rebounds already; the future is looking extremely bright. Stay tuned, y’all; this stud is prime-time!
