Ghaven Mittal brings more than a shooting touch to Concordia Lutheran. He uses his size to rise over a defender from deep, handle the ball, find an open teammate, or attack the basket when the defense closes too hard. He describes himself as a player who “figures it out,” and that phrase captures the way he reads what a game needs from him. His size creates difficult matchups at guard, but his decisions give that advantage meaning. He wants his coach to count on his voice, effort, and example every time he takes the floor.
During his junior season, Ghaven averaged 15.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.1 steals in 36 games while making 98 three-pointers. He reached 20 points in 10 games and led his district in several scoring categories. Those numbers came as his confidence caught up with his ability. He learned when to use his height, when to trust his shot, and when a better opening belonged to a teammate. As he grew more comfortable with those choices, he became willing to take big shots when his team needed him.
Ghavens biggest improvement was understanding how to make his strengths work together. Earlier, he sometimes tried to force a play. Now he sees more ways to impact a possession, whether he scores or creates the chance for someone else. He wants to carry that growth into his senior year by defending with more force, pursuing more rebounds, and becoming a steadier leader. He knows a strong scoring night can help his team, but he also values the decisions and effort that make a win possible.
District MVP and All-State honors gave Ghaven proof that his work had been noticed. He appreciates those achievements, yet his answer turns quickly to what he hopes Concordia can accomplish together. He wants a deep playoff run and a championship, and he would gladly trade another individual award for the chance to help get one. Leaving a lasting mark on the program matters more to him than adding another line to his own résumé.
Competition on the P32 New Balance Circuit challenged Ghaven in a different way. Facing strong, physical athletes showed him that skill alone wouldn't always create space or finish a play. He had to decide faster, absorb contact, defend with purpose, and keep competing when the game became demanding. The experience exposed a clear need in his development, and he chose to address it instead of letting it shake his belief in himself.
That response has shaped his offseason. Ghaven has spent more time building strength, improving his conditioning, and working to finish through contact while keeping the shooting and ball skills that distinguish his game. He's also sharpened his handles and defensive habits through skill sessions, weight room work, and the shots he puts up outside the spotlight. The early mornings and late nights matter to him because they prepare him to stay composed when a game asks more of him.
Ghaven wants his senior season to show the full reach of that work. His goal is to take charge when Concordia needs a basket, then make the less visible winning play when someone else has the better look. He wants his teammates to feel his leadership in the way he communicates and competes, and he wants his coach to trust him when the moment grows tense.
Faith and family give that drive its foundation. Ghaven sees basketball as a blessing, and his faith helps him remain humble through success and steady through difficult games. He knows the travel, encouragement, and sacrifices his family has given him can't be measured by an award. Their example keeps character and hard work at the center of his journey. He hopes they will be proud of the man he becomes as much as the basketball he plays.
Ghaven’s strongest offensive value comes from the choices his size and skill allow him to make. He can punish defenders with his jumper, draw attention on a drive, and recognize when that attention opens a teammate. His growing patience makes those options harder to defend because he does not need the same answer on every trip down the floor.
Ghaven’s combination of size, shooting range, ball handling, and court vision gives him the tools to make an impact in several ways. He can score when his team needs a basket, create a better look for a teammate, and use his length on defense. His feel for the game and commitment to improving give him strong potential as he enters his senior season.
