Kendrick Tears knows how to make a quarterback look downfield. He describes himself as a long receiver who loves to contest deep balls, rising to meet a throw even when a defender is close. That gives his offense a chance to strike from far out, and Kendrick wants every target to feel like a ball he can win.

He opened the season with 171 receiving yards in Week 1, the biggest game he's had in football. To this point in the season, he has 25 catches for 470 yards and 6 touchdowns. His start showed what he could do when the passing game found its rhythm, but the weeks that followed demanded a different kind of fight.

Kendrick and his teammates then faced four straight playoff teams. He did what he could to help through that tough stretch and kept working for his chance to make another big impact. In Week 6, he answered with 159 yards and 2 touchdowns, giving him a performance to build on as his team looks to win the rest of its games.

Kendrick put time into his speed, route running, and adding weight during the offseason. He says his biggest growth has come from moving faster and tracking the football better, two improvements that matter when a pass hangs in the air. Before the snap, he looks for open grass and pictures where he might have room to work. Once the play begins, he is ready to go after his chance.

A coach can count on Kendrick to play hard through the whistle. His passion for football fuels him, and he wants to become great at the game he loves. There is still plenty of season left, and he is hungry to help his teammates finish it strong.
