Gavin is a versatile guard who plays the game with strength, balance, and purpose. He scores at all three levels without wasting possessions, finishes through contact, and stays under control whether he has the ball in his hands or is working off it. He defends multiple positions with effort and pride, rebounds like a forward from the guard spot, and brings a physical edge that shows up every night. There is nothing rushed about his game. He knows when to attack, when to pull up, and when to make the simple play that keeps winning basketball rolling.
The production backs it up. So far this season, Gavin is averaging 19.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game while shooting a blistering 56% from the field, leading a team currently ranked #2 in 1A. The biggest improvement came from smarter shot selection and overall efficiency. He is getting to his spots, finishing stronger, and making defenders pay for mistakes instead of forcing the issue. Every bucket feels earned, and every possession has value.
What makes this stretch even more impressive is what he had to overcome to get here. Breaking his ankle in August could have slowed everything down, but Gavin used it as fuel. The rehab process sharpened his focus, strengthened his mindset, and pushed him to come back more locked in than before. That adversity shaped how he approaches the game now, staying composed, moving on to the next play, and controlling what he can control.
The offseason focus is to tighten his handles under pressure, become more consistent from three-point range, and improve his shooting off the dribble, as well as stepping into a stronger leadership role, all of which are priorities as he continues to elevate his game. He wants to beat teams that Hauser has not beaten in previous years, and that chip shows in how hard he competes and prepares.
Coaches can expect high effort, toughness, and a player who is easy to coach and wired to win. Gavin brings energy without forcing it and leads by example on both ends of the floor. Off the court, he enjoys family time, workouts, and academics, keeping balance while staying hungry.
At the next level, his options are already forming. He currently holds offers from Illinois Wesleyan, Hanover, Wabash, Trine, and Rose-Hulman, with interest open to any conference school that values production, toughness, and trust.
I assess that Gavin brings a college program a dependable guard who scores efficiently, defends with strength, and rebounds above his position. His ability to impact the game without forcing offense allows teams to play through him in different roles while maintaining stability and toughness.
Moving forward, expect continued growth as his handles and shooting consistency keep improving. With his mindset, efficiency, and competitive edge, Gavin is poised to be a guard who can step into a college program and earn minutes through reliability, physical play, and winning habits. Stay tuned.
