Colt is a fierce competitor with a strong arm and an electric presence under center, Colt brings the full package to the quarterback position. His ability to roll the pocket and deliver accurate throws on the run sets him apart, demonstrating elite field vision and an advanced offensive IQ. Whether it's threading a tight window or recognizing a defensive shift before the snap, Colt's understanding of the game fuels his success. His leadership, grit, and relentless drive make him a difference-maker every time he steps on the field.

Colts evolution as a quarterback has been nothing short of impressive. His freshman campaign was a learning experience, completing 55 of 100 passes for 580 yards with two touchdowns and seven interceptions, along with 50 carries for 162 yards and six rushing touchdowns. His team finished 2-8, but the foundation was set for a breakout sophomore season. Colt answered in a big way, going 102 for 165 with 1,570 passing yards, 27 touchdowns to just five interceptions, and adding 83 rushing yards with four scores. More importantly, his leadership helped propel his team to a 7-4 record—the best start for Whitewright since 2012.

Colt's growth didn’t go unnoticed. As a testament to his dominance on the field and discipline in the classroom, he earned Newcomer of the Year, District 6-AA All-District honors, First Team All-Offense, and Academic All-District honors. However, despite the accolades, losing in the first round of the playoffs stung. That disappointment fuels Colt’s fire, pushing him through the offseason with a relentless determination to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

Colt plays with a steady demeanor, never rattled, always in control. His arm strength is a clear weapon, but what truly makes him dangerous is his ability to throw with touch and accuracy. Colt understands how to put the right velocity on the ball, whether it's a deep strike down the sideline or a quick slant in traffic. His pre-snap awareness is another major strength as he reads defenses with confidence, recognizing coverages and anticipating movements before the ball is even snapped.

But his game isn't just about talent. What separates Colt from others is his leadership and grit. He plays with a high motor, pushing himself and his teammates to reach new levels. Colt's internal drive to succeed is his greatest motivator, and he embraces adversity rather than shying away from it. He thrives on challenges, knowing that nothing in football or life is handed to you.

With his sights set on playing at the highest level possible, Colt knows the journey will require grit and determination, some qualities he already possesses in abundance. While he remains open to all opportunities, including D2 and JUCO programs, Colt believes his skill set aligns with the Di1 level. Interest is growing, with multiple D2 and D1 schools keeping tabs on his progress, though official offers have yet to roll in.

A coach recruiting Colt can expect nothing less than his very best every time he steps on the field. He brings leadership, toughness, and a competitive fire that elevates those around him. What makesa program stand out to Colt is a program with a great coaching staff and a winning culture or one determined to build one.

The best advice Colt has ever received is, “Nothing is given; you have to be prepared and determined.” That mindset has shaped him into the quarterback he is today, and it’s the same mindset that will carry him forward. Colt's approach to the game is to play every game like it’s your last, understanding how quickly opportunities can disappear.

I assess that Colt is an exciting young quarterback with the tools to take his game to another level. His combination of size, arm strength, IQ, and leadership makes him a high-level prospect with the potential to thrive at the next level. Colt's biggest improvements have come in his footwork and command of the offense, and continued development in those areas will only strengthen his game. As he heads into his junior season, expect Colt to build on his already impressive resume, sharpen his mechanics, and make an even bigger impact.

With a chip on his shoulder and a hunger to win, Colt Yancey is a name to watch. His best football is still ahead, and the way he’s wired, he won’t stop until he reaches his full potential. Stay tuned!
