Katy Tompkins HS (TX)

Hans is a dynamic, high-IQ floor general who plays with total command. He’s the heartbeat of any offense he runs, controlling tempo, dissecting defenses, and setting up teammates with surgical precision. What separates Hans is how effortlessly he shifts from playmaker to scorer, blending patience with explosiveness. He gets to his spots at will, drives downhill with confidence, and has the ability to create plays in tight traffic. With a smooth handle and an advanced feel for the game, he dictates pace, dictates rhythm, and dictates outcomes. His court vision and leadership make him the ultimate pace controller, and his ability to lead vocally and by example keeps his team composed in any situation.

He embraced a bigger role as one of his team’s primary scorers while still creating for others, shouldering the offense with poise and consistency. He’s added strength and 15 pounds of solid muscle since last year, helping him absorb contact and finish through defenders with greater balance. The offseason focus was about becoming stronger, smarter, and more vocal, a combination that has already paid off in the fall league, where he’s more confident and effective attacking off the dribble and facilitating for his teammates.

Hans expects to step into the season as a true leader and offensive leader. For fall league, his sights are set on building chemistry and rhythm, ensuring his teammates are ready to compete once the real games begin. His season goal is to make a deep playoff run and leave no doubt that Tompkins is a threat every night. To achieve that, he knows it’ll take commitment from everyone, each player doing their job, playing hard, and staying healthy after battling injuries across the roster.

His daily grind is as relentless as his game, early practices during the day, weight room, and open gym sessions after school, followed by extra work at Villa Sports or on outdoor courts. That consistency fuels his improvement and sharpens his edge. Moving forward, Hans plans to keep leading, keep elevating his teammates, and keep doing whatever it takes to stack wins. His message to anyone standing in his way this fall and beyond is, be ready for a tough game.

I assess that Hans brings a complete skill set that instantly elevates a college program. His blend of IQ, poise, and leadership allows him to command the game’s pace and keep everyone around him in sync. He’s a trusted decision-maker, a confident scorer, and the kind of player who thrives under pressure. His high motor, relentless effort, and ability to control the floor make him a coach’s dream guard.

Expect Hans to continue growing into one of Texas’s most complete backcourt leaders. His offensive creativity, physical growth, and relentless work ethic give him the tools to become a next-level floor general. With his confidence soaring and leadership maturing, he’s on track to make major noise this season, and every team that faces him will feel his presence from tip to final buzzer.
