Quinlan Ford HS, TX

Payton is a full-package field general built for total domination. With a fierce frame, electric mobility, and a cannon for an arm, this dual-threat play-caller brings a mix of IQ and explosion that separates him from other quarterbacks on the field. He’s a master at rolling the pocket and launching darts on the move, pairing crafty footwork with the instincts of a seasoned playmaker. When he tucks it and runs, defenders feel every pound of his power, and he still has the burst to make them miss in space. Coaches should know exactly that they’re getting a fearless competitor with poise under pressure, the brain to dissect a defense, and the fire to lead any team into battle. Every snap is an opportunity for something dynamic, every drive a chance for him to take control.

This past season, Payton completed 54 of 104 passes for 753 yards through the air in a run-heavy offense and added another 500 yards on the ground of his own, proving his ability to beat defenses in every direction. His accuracy was his biggest improvement last season, tightening his downfield throws and making him even more dangerous in the red zone. Most importantly, he helped lead Quinlan Ford to its first winning season in three years, a massive accomplishment that speaks to his leadership and impact. His offseason focus is all about total elevation by mastering every detail, improving his reads (especially on the safeties), and building up every facet of his game. Fueled by the fire of last year’s loss to Sunnyvale, a game he believed they should’ve won, Payton is determined to come back stronger, faster, and more efficient. His biggest motivator is winning, plain and simple. He’s built to compete, and everything he does is designed to put his squad in the best position possible.

Payton’s high football IQ gives him a distinct edge, he reads defenses like a veteran, knows where pressure is coming from, and attacks mismatches with confidence. He motivates his teammates with passion and presence, never letting adversity linger. Whether it’s bouncing back from a tough play or delivering a spark late in the game, he’s wired to lead. Every time he steps on the field, he brings swagger, smarts, and a relentless will to win. He's been in contact with UTEP, Minnesota State-Moorhead, UTPB, Oklahoma Baptist, SFA, and Concordia St. Paul. While no offers have landed yet, interest is growing, and his D1 dreams are well within reach.

I assess that Payton is a powerhouse quarterback who can stretch a defense with arm strength, punish softboxes with his legs, and control a huddle with maturity beyond his years. His combination of physicality and football IQ makes him a dangerous threat at the college level, particularly in systems that value pro-style structure with mobility built in. He’s a coach’s dream: intense, accountable, and always pushing for greatness. Programs that develop quarterbacks and value community will get a play-caller who fits both schematically and culturally.

Moving forward, expect Payton to emerge as one of the most commanding presences in his region of high school football. His continued focus on evolving every area of his game, paired with his unshakable mindset and competitive fuel, points to major potential at the next level. As his confidence grows and his exposure increases, he has all the tools to become a future standout and a true game-changer for the college, willing to believe in the fire he brings. After putting in countless hours and a hunger spirit, Payton is poised and determined to be that guy this upcoming season ready to make a statement and lead his team on a deep playoff run this upcoming season. With passion, fire and savvy, Payton is ready to be that perfect field general his team ready to build on last season's success and beyond. One last statement, one last run. Payton has an edge and something to prove playing with a chip on his shoulder. Stay tuned y'all.
