Ty’s game is built on heart, grit, and control that make everything around him rise. He is a true floor general who plays with pace, toughness, and a calm edge that sets the tone for everyone else. His vision, balance, and command allow him to break down defenses and create scoring chances from anywhere on the floor. He can light it up from deep, finish through contact, or deliver perfect passes the instant a lane opens. He thrives on competition and leads by example, impacting the game through both skill and composure. Every time Ty steps on the court, intensity follows.
From the moment he arrived on Liberty’s campus, the atmosphere drew him in. The culture spoke louder than words, built on family, faith, energy, and genuine connection. Every player and coach radiated excitement and unity, making it clear that Liberty was more than a basketball program; it was a brotherhood. That powerful sense of belonging and shared purpose made his decision come quickly. The family bond, the passion in the gym, and the staff’s belief made it feel like home from the start.
The coaching staff had followed Ty’s growth closely through the spring and summer, evaluating his maturity, decision-making, and relentless approach to competition. Their trust and commitment to challenge him daily on and off the court resonated deeply. They made it clear that Liberty was a place where players are pushed to be better people as well as better athletes. The system fits perfectly with Ty’s strengths. Liberty’s offense reflects his natural instincts, unselfish movement, floor spacing, ball flow, and smart reads that reward high-IQ guards. For a player who thrives on leading and elevating those around him, it was the perfect environment.
Ty’s work ethic defines everything about his rise. He’s never relied on a full-time trainer to get where he is. Instead, his development has been fueled by discipline, routine, and family. His mom and stepdad have always been his foundation, helping, supporting, and joining him in workouts when he needed partners. He’s also worked out with Jace and Austyn McWilliams, both of whom have been part of his training circle and competitive growth. But more often than not, Ty goes alone, locked in, focused, and driven. His daily sessions revolve around mastering the essentials of ball handling, finishing, and shooting. Over the past year, he’s invested heavily in his body, getting bigger, stronger, and more explosive. Every ounce of his progress is self-earned, built through repetition and sacrifice, with a hunger that never fades.
Faith and family remain at the foundation of Ty’s identity. Their influence has shaped not only his path to Liberty but his values and approach to life. They’ve always been there, guiding and grounding him. His mom’s words echo the lesson he carries daily: “I don’t care how good you are at basketball, I just want you to be a good person.” That belief fuels his purpose. No matter how many achievements come, Ty’s faith and family remind him that character will always be greater than fame. They’ve helped him grow into the kind of man Liberty’s culture thrives on, humble, accountable, and unshakably focused.
Ty’s résumé speaks for itself: a state championship, Mr. Basketball consideration, and now a DI commitment. Yet his hunger continues to grow. The 2024 state tournament loss became a turning point, one that stung deeply and pushed him to elevate every part of his game. He took it personally, using that pain as fuel to become a stronger leader, more vocal communicator, and the kind of player who refuses to let that feeling repeat. His goals for this season are to lead with purpose, set the tone for his team, and bring home district, regional, and state titles.
Even with recruiting pressure off, Ty’s focus hasn’t changed. His love for the game keeps him locked in. He shows up every day with a mindset of competing, improving, and leading. Over the years, his understanding of leadership has transformed. Once learning what it meant to command a team, he now embraces the full responsibility of being the voice, the stabilizer, and the standard setter. He understands that being a point guard isn’t just about calling plays, it’s about embodying the culture, controlling tempo, and inspiring everyone on the floor.
Ty knows he’s still only scratching the surface of what’s possible. He’s aware that his ceiling keeps rising because he refuses to get comfortable. His motivation stems from pure love of the game and the drive to compete at the highest level. Every workout, every rep, every practice is another opportunity to chase that next level of growth. He’s wired to work, to lead, and to win.
For the younger athletes chasing their own dreams, Ty’s message is, "Work as hard as you can and never let anyone tell you that you can’t". He’s lived that creed, proving that dedication, belief, and consistency will always win out over doubt. When fans and coaches at Liberty see him step on the court, they’ll see passion in motion, a player who competes with emotion, discipline, and an unwavering will to win.
Gratitude drives him forward. Ty credits his family and every coach who’s poured into him over the years for shaping his game and character. He’s thankful for the people who believed in him, guided him, and pushed him to reach higher. As he steps into this next chapter under Coach McKay and Liberty’s staff, Ty knows he’s entering a program that will test his limits and refine him both as a player and a man. He’s not just ready, he’s hungry to grow, to lead, and to leave his mark.
Ty’s leadership, court awareness, and competitive mindset make him an instant difference maker. His ability to dictate pace, impact both ends of the floor, and elevate teammates makes him the type of player that every coach can rely on. He is tough, composed, and dependable, bringing consistency and energy to every possession.
Ty’s commitment to improvement and his relentless approach to competition will continue to separate him as his career advances. His faith, work ethic, and discipline make him a special kind of player who consistently exceeds expectations. His drive will continue to carry him forward as he continues to develop into one of the most complete guards in the game.
In my mind and experience, Ty is a generational player who is still only scratching the surface of his full potential. His ceiling continues to rise, and his best basketball is still ahead of him.
