Mason is a physically aggressive wing that thrives at attacking the rim and a ruthless finisher with nasty throwdowns. Mason's versatility comes into view with his silky-smooth touch from beyond the arc. Mason is a strong ball handler and uses that as another weapon in his arsenal to create space for a mid-range stunner or that explosive invasion on the rim-rattling assault. Mason can deliver a nice dime to open teammates. Mason is a force on the boards and a solid defender.
Last season, Mason averaged 14 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals per game while shooting 46% from the floor. This year, he is putting up 11.8 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2.1 steals per game. Mason’s focus this season is improving his finishing and dribbling while continuing to find the open man and boost his assists. Mason’s goals include grabbing more rebounds and helping his team win the conference title. He acknowledges that the challenges he needs to overcome are their tough conference and his tendency to forget to follow his shots.
Mason’s biggest accomplishment so far was earning All-State Honorable Mention as a sophomore. He also earned 1st Team All-Conference, 1st Team Cadillac News, and 2nd Team Big Rapids Dream Team honors. The game Mason is most looking forward to is their rematch against Evart, the team that handed them their only loss this season. Mason feels confident that a deep tournament run is possible if the team sticks together and battles through adversity.
What fires Mason up most is when his team goes on a big run and builds a commanding lead. Adversity can frustrate him at first, but Mason knows how to stay composed and lead his team through tough moments. Mason thrives on the encouragement of his coaches and teammates, especially when the game isn’t going his way. The best advice he’s ever received is that helping the team succeed goes far beyond scoring. He’s taken that to heart by making an impact in every area of the game.
Off the court, Mason enjoys hunting and fishing. He recognizes that improving his speed and fluidity will be key to achieving success at the next level. With his size and skill set, Mason believes he has the tools to excel at a D3 level—or higher with the right coaching. He currently holds one offer and has gained interest from several colleges, with two campus visits already under his belt.
Mason’s physicality, aggression, and versatility make him a strong candidate for next-level play. Mason's ability to combine scoring, playmaking, and defensive tenacity sets him apart. The interest from colleges is legit, and Mason’s recent big games show the potential for even more impactful performances as he keeps pushing himself.
