Winston is a smooth, athletic wing with long strides, real bounce, and a scoring package that keeps expanding. He moves around the floor with confidence, comfortable handling the ball, bringing it up the court, and putting constant pressure on defenses. His first step is explosive, his counters come naturally, and once he gets downhill, he is hard to keep off the rim. He embraces contact, finishes through contact, and has no problem rising up off one foot or two to put defenders on a poster. When teams sag, he makes them pay with a pull-up jumper, and when they close hard, he steps into the three with confidence, both catch and shoot, and off the dribble.
The offseason work on his shot and ball handling is clearly translating, giving his game more flow, freedom, and trust.
After averaging 5 points and 3 rebounds last season, Winston is now at 7 points and 4 rebounds while working his way back from a wrist injury. Fully healthy entering the second semester, he wasted no time announcing himself, exploding for 16 points and 6 rebounds in his first game back. His biggest improvement has been his jump shot and ball handling, the result of relentless summer work and countless reps. Even with that growth, he is still pushing to make his jumper even more consistent, showing a mindset wired for progress and long term gains.
Winston plays to win. His goal this season is to win the region, punch a ticket to the national tournament, and bring home a championship. Looking ahead, he has his sights set on transferring to an NCAA D1 program and making an immediate impact, with March basketball firmly on his radar. What fuels him most is competing shoulder to shoulder with his brothers, lining up against strong teams, and proving their level through effort, toughness, and execution. When facing adversity, his response never wavers, head down, work harder, trust the grind.
Basketball has been stitched into Winston’s life from the start. Growing up in Kansas City, Missouri, he was surrounded by the game daily, learning early what dedication, discipline, and consistency look like. That environment shaped his approach and sharpened his understanding of what it takes to succeed. At Oak Park High School, he played alongside his brother for two seasons, earning Conference Player of the Year, Athlete of the Year, and Direnna finalist honors. After his senior season, with opportunities across multiple levels and a visit to Iona University in May 2023, he chose a development-focused route, heading to Link Year Prep in Branson to keep building his game.
Winston began his junior college career at Cowley College in Kansas, where he helped his team make a deep run to the Elite Eight of the NJCAA D1 National Tournament. From there, he made the move to North Platte Community College in Nebraska, betting on himself and stepping into a situation that offered a larger role and a clearer path forward. Every stop has added layers to his game and maturity to his approach. His vision remains simple and bold, play at the highest level possible and earn every step along the way.
Winston brings size, athleticism, and three-level scoring ability that can impact a college program in multiple ways. His comfort handling the ball, attacking the rim, and knocking down shots gives coaches flexibility and matchup options. As his shot continues to steady, he becomes a tough cover who can stretch the floor, attack closeouts, and finish strong.
With his health back and confidence growing, his production and consistency should continue to climb. Winston’s work habits, competitive edge, and steady growth point to a player whose best basketball is still ahead. Expect continued development, increased responsibility, and a wing who is steadily pushing for a D1 opportunity.
