Alex brings lethal confidence to the quarterback position, and he can hurt a defense with his arm or his legs. His speed gives him a way to break free on the ground, while his passing keeps defenders from loading up to stop the run.

Through five weeks, Alex has thrown for 756 yards and 6 touchdowns while rushing for 684 yards and 9 scores. He credits his offseason work for the strong start and plans to stay in the weight room as the season moves forward. He added 20 pounds of muscle and ran a 4.5-second 40-yard dash, building more strength to go with the quickness that makes him dangerous.

Alex has been part of a district championship team and a trip to the region, but his path has also tested him. After tearing his ACL during his sophomore year, he fought back through physical therapy and long hours under the squat rack. He now follows a disciplined lifting and throwing routine, with his sights set on winning district and region and earning a DI offer.

Before the snap, Alex identifies the defensive shell and counts the defenders in the box. He uses those clues to see where he can attack, then trusts his determination to give everything he has on each play. The attention he gets from the media fuels his fire and pushes him to show what he can do.

I assess that Alex’s dual-threat game forces opponents to account for more than one way he can move the ball. His belief in himself stands out, and he backs it up by taking his preparation seriously.
