JJ brings a high basketball IQ, an elite shooting touch, and the athleticism to give his team more than points. He understands when to take his shot, when to move the ball, and how to stay ready when a teammate finds him. That team-first mindset gives his scoring another edge because he can make a big play without forcing the game to come to him. His jumper grabs your attention, but his feel for the court is what makes him such an intriguing player.

As a freshman on varsity, JJ earned minutes as the seventh man and made the most of them. He shot about 38% from three, giving his team a dangerous outside weapon even while he was learning the varsity game. His biggest moment came on the road against a rival, where he rained in a deep three with two minutes left to tie the game. That's a fearless shot for any player, much less a freshman stepping into a heated rivalry game. JJ trusted the hours he had put into his jumper, let it fly, and delivered when his team needed it.

That freshman season also helped open a door with Team Unleashed. A former player connected to the program was helping with the team, and JJ went into tryouts determined to show what he could do. He played well enough to earn his spot and the EYBL opportunity that came with it. His shooting gave him a way to stand out, while his ability to play with teammates showed he could bring value in a demanding setting.

Then knee tendinitis made his sophomore year painful. JJ described it as severe enough that the pain was with him all the time, and he chose to sit out the AAU season so he could focus on his body. That meant stepping away from a chance he'd worked hard to earn, but he stayed committed to getting healthy. He says he's now pretty much pain-free, which gives him a chance to return with confidence in his body and real hunger for the game.

The biggest improvement since the injury has been his strength. JJ can feel how much more it opens up when he plays, giving him another way to attack while still making defenders respect his outside shot. He's lifted consistently, kept working in the gym, and taken his recovery more seriously. Those hours behind the scenes matter because they have helped him build toward a return where he can trust both his skill and his body.

JJ believes his middy is the most underrated part of his game, and it deserves attention. Defenders who rush to take away his three can't forget that he can pull up inside the arc. With his shooting touch and added strength, he has more ways to find a shot that fits the moment. That combination makes him dangerous because he doesn't have to rely on the same look every possession.

This season, JJ is pushing for all-region honors, a trip to state with his team, and college offers. Those goals reflect both the competitor and the teammate in him, because he wants his own game to grow while helping his team make a deep run. After dealing with pain and time away from AAU basketball, he has plenty of reasons to value every chance he gets back on the court.

His faith fuels him, along with the work he's put into basketball and the desire to become the best version of himself. JJ knows what it took to get through the difficult stretch, and he knows what it feels like to hit a shot when the moment is big. Now he gets to bring that same belief, a stronger body, and a fierce hunger into the season ahead.

I assess that JJ has the shooting touch to change a game quickly, but his basketball IQ helps him find ways to contribute even when the ball isn't in his hands. He plays for his teammates, stays ready for his chances, and has already shown the confidence to take a crucial shot in a hostile gym. His added strength gives his offensive game more depth and should help him put his athletic ability to use on a wider range of plays.

JJ’s skill set gives him the potential to be a dynamic scoring threat and a good teammate for any program watching him. His jumper demands attention, his middy gives him another scoring answer, and his feel for the game helps him recognize what his team needs. As he puts those strengths together, JJ will make a fierce impact on the court and show coaches just how much he has to offer. Stay tuned.
