Before the lights ever come on and before the first whistle cuts through the air, Xaviere already has his mind locked in on something bigger than football. Every game begins with gratitude to God for waking him up, blessing him with strength, discipline, and the opportunity to compete with his brothers one more time. That perspective fuels everything about the way he plays. Xaviere understands how quickly the game can be taken away, which is why every snap carries meaning, every run matters. Every moment on the field becomes another opportunity to empty the tank for his teammates and the sport he loves.
That passion shows up immediately the second he touches the football. Xaviere runs with the kind of energy that spreads through an entire sideline. He attacks the game with emotion, toughness, and relentless effort from the opening kickoff until his final breath. His belief in his team runs deep, and he understands that energy, positivity, and trust in one another can completely change the direction of a game. That fire burns through every carry, every block, and every battle in the trenches.
As a downhill back, Xaviere takes pride in his vision and patience, two traits that separate good running backs from dangerous ones. He understands that the position is not simply about speed or power. It is about timing, discipline, and seeing opportunities before they fully develop. He studies defenses carefully and allows plays to unfold instead of rushing into traffic blindly. Once the crease appears, though, everything changes instantly. One violent plant of the foot, and he explodes vertically through the lane without hesitation. No wasted movement. No dancing in the backfield. Just pure downhill violence forcing defenders to react before they can even recover.
That physical mentality became a huge part of his sophomore breakout season, where he totaled 153 carries, 1,020 all-purpose yards, 800 rushing yards, and 10 touchdowns after battling through a slow start to the year. Early on, things were inconsistent and frustrating, but Xaviere never allowed those moments to shake his confidence. Instead, he stayed committed to the bigger picture. He continued attacking the weight room, sharpening his game, and trusting that the work would eventually show up on Friday nights. Little by little, the game began slowing down for him. The reads became smoother. The confidence grew stronger. The runs became more punishing. Before long, the same player battling through adversity early in the season was turning into one of the most productive backs on the field.
A huge part of that growth came from the coaches around him. Head Coach Jon Hunek believed in Xaviere from the start, even trusting him enough to play varsity playoff football as a freshman. That early belief planted confidence deep within him and showed him what he was capable of becoming. Running Backs Coach Todd Swisher also played a huge role in shaping his mentality. Through fumbles, missed reads, and difficult moments, Coach Swisher constantly reinforced the importance of moving on to the next play and staying mentally locked in. That mindset became one of the foundations of Xaviere’s development and helped him mature tremendously throughout the season.
When a running lane opens up, there is no hesitation in his game. Xaviere immediately shifts from patient to violent in a split second. His mentality becomes simple and direct: this is my play. He attacks downhill with confidence, trusting his preparation and the work he has put in behind the scenes. Defenders quickly realize they are not dealing with a back looking to avoid contact. Xaviere welcomes it. He embraces the physical side of football and takes pride in wearing defenses down over four quarters.
What makes him even more dangerous is the mental side of his game. Before every snap, his eyes immediately lock onto the linebackers. He studies their movement, reactions, alignments, and tendencies throughout the game because he understands football is just as mental as it is physical. Recognizing defensive adjustments before the ball is snapped allows him to anticipate where running lanes will develop and gives him an advantage before the play even begins. That football IQ, combined with his patience and physical running style, creates a difficult combination for defenses to deal with consistently.
One of the biggest adversity moments of his season came against rival Olmsted Falls in an atmosphere unlike anything he had experienced before. The noise, pressure, and chaos could have rattled him, but instead, it became another opportunity to prove himself. Xaviere leaned on his preparation, trusted his training, and reminded himself he belonged in that environment. That game taught him how to stay composed under pressure and showed him adversity can either break confidence or build toughness. He chose toughness.
The biggest improvement in his game came after contact. Early in the season, finishing runs consistently was an area he wanted badly to improve, and by the end of the year, it became one of his strengths. He began running with greater physicality, determination, and aggression, refusing to let defenders end plays easily. Ball security also became another huge point of emphasis as he continued developing into a more complete and dependable back.
What separates Xaviere from other running backs is not simply size or measurable traits. It is his dedication, football intelligence, and relentless approach to improvement. Being a leaner back has never discouraged him. If anything, it fuels him even more. He attacks every workout and every opportunity with the mentality of proving toughness, discipline, and heart can overcome anything. His work ethic pushes him daily because he refuses to settle for average.
This offseason, Xaviere has been fully committed to mastering every detail of the position. Ball security, durability, explosiveness, footwork, and becoming lighter on his feet are all priorities as he works to elevate his game. He is also focused heavily on exposure through camps and showcases because he wants coaches everywhere to see the competitor he truly is. Every workout is another opportunity to sharpen his craft and continue building toward his dream.
Most importantly, coaches know exactly what they are getting every single time Xaviere steps on the field: a dependable, physical running back that competes relentlessly and puts the team first. Whether it is grinding out extra yards, stepping up in pass protection, protecting the football, or bringing life to the sideline, his effort never changes. He plays the game with discipline, toughness, heart, and passion every single snap.
And through it all, his faith remains at the center of everything. Xaviere openly gives God the glory for every opportunity, every lesson, and every blessing in his life. Football is not something he takes for granted because he understands how quickly moments can pass. His relationship with God gives him perspective, humility, and purpose beyond statistics or recognition. That faith fuels the energy, gratitude, and brotherhood he carries onto the field every Friday night.
I assess that Xaviere is a physical downhill running back with outstanding vision, patience, and football IQ. He runs with toughness and purpose while showing the discipline to let plays develop before exploding through running lanes. His ability to study linebackers and anticipate defensive movement shows advanced understanding of the game for his age. He embraces contact, finishes runs stronger as the game progresses, and competes with relentless effort every snap. His growth in ball security and running after contact adds another layer to his development as a dependable every-down back.
Xaviere has the tools and mentality to continue developing into a highly productive and complete running back. His combination of patience, physicality, intelligence, and toughness creates a strong foundation for long-term success. The steady growth he showed throughout his sophomore season highlights both his work ethic and coachability. As he continues adding explosiveness, strength, and overall versatility, his ceiling continues rising. What truly separates him, though, is his mentality. Xaviere plays with purpose, discipline, and belief in something bigger than himself, and that approach gives him the ability to impact games far beyond the stat sheet. Stay tuned.
