BJ Powell @bjpowellthe2nd, 6'0 ft, 150, c/o 26 from Lincolnway East High School is a shifty and dynamic athlete. BJ can light up the scoreboard in a hurry as a strong triple-threat scoring option. Doesn't need any space to get his shots off which causes all sorts of problems. Defenders can't contain him. BJ is explosive and crafty off the bounce and a fierce finisher. Even with contact BJ still gets it done. A strong leader and facilitator who has an extremely high IQ. Knows the e-act moment to take over and dominate a game. BJ is a nice passer and rock-solid defender. In the AAU session, BJ played two years up and still was a force to be reckoned with the Nike Meanstreets 17U EYBL. That's a statement within itself.
Last season BJ averaged 10.4 points, 5 assists while shooting a blistering 48% from three-point range and 90% from the free throw line. BJ's biggest improvement over the summer was his defense and strength she growing two inches. BJ's goal for the upcoming season is to become a team leader when getting better every game. By his example, it should lead his teammates to be better while making the right plays effectively to help him get better.
What coaches should know that sets BJ apart is his versatility. Whenever needed BJ can go from facilitator to 20-point scorer. He is fearless in attacking the lane. No doubt in my mind that BJ will be a high-level D1talent at the end most likely landing in a Power 5 school. BJ already holds D1 offers as a freshman. Now that he is bigger, stronger and faster more are going to rl in this season. BJ's biggest desire though is a team with a good basketball team and good academics. Lock this young ✨ in right now cause it's going to be a fun ride.
