Ava brings a high motor and a team-first presence every time she steps on the floor, impacting the game on both ends from the opening possession. She’s not just out there to score; she’s reading the floor, anticipating plays, getting into passing lanes, and creating turnovers that turn into easy opportunities. There’s a toughness in how she plays, willing to hit the floor for loose balls, take contact, and do whatever it takes to shift momentum. That effort, along with her ability to create her own shot and make plays within the flow, makes her a true all-around threat.
Her game fits the “total package” label because she doesn’t rely on just one skill. The scoring is there, the playmaking is there, and the defensive presence stands out. What fuels it all is the work behind the scenes. The hours in the gym, the consistency, and the repetition built her confidence to step up in big moments. She understands when her team needs her to take over, whether that means scoring, creating for others, or making key defensive plays. Everything she does is based on reading the game and responding to what’s needed.
She opened the season playing some of her best basketball, setting the tone early with confidence and control. That momentum took a hit after transferring when she was ruled ineligible for the second half of the season, a moment that tested her mentally. Instead of letting it slow her down, she leaned into the work, staying consistent in the gym and focusing on strengthening her mindset. She stayed disciplined, kept improving, and found ways to grow without being on the court.
Being recognized as a top 20 shooting guard out of Ohio validated the work she’s been putting in while also pushing her to keep going. That recognition built confidence and also added fuel to continue improving, especially as a shooter and all-around player. Her mindset stays locked on growth, knowing there’s always another level she can reach.
Her biggest improvement was in her leadership, becoming more intentional with how she communicates, carries herself, and responds in different situations. That growth showed up in how she stayed engaged, kept teammates connected, and set the tone with her energy and effort. Leadership became about consistency and accountability, not just words.
Even during postseason play when she couldn’t step on the floor, she stayed locked in, supported her teammates, and studied the game closely. That experience showed her that being a competitor goes beyond playing; it’s about how you handle adversity and show up for your team no matter the situation.
Her game has carried right into AAU with Lexington Crossover E40, bringing that same defensive energy, leadership, and scoring ability. At the Marble City Invitational, even without feeling like it was her best performance, she still produced. She stayed locked in, competed, and found ways to impact the game in multiple ways.
She’s focused on continuing to improve, compete, and do whatever it takes to win. Whether that’s defending, scoring, making plays, or bringing energy, she’s committed to impacting the game however her team needs her to. With a big July ahead and an E40 Championship in sight, she’s ready to keep building and proving herself against top competition.
I assess that Ava brings a complete game with the ability to impact every phase on the floor. Her defensive instincts, energy, and willingness to do the work that others avoid set her apart, while her scoring and playmaking add another layer that makes her difficult to contain.
With her skill set, effort, and mental toughness, Ava is poised to continue rising against high-level competition. Her ability to turn adversity into growth and stay consistent in her approach gives her a strong foundation to make an impact at the next level. Stay tuned.
